Explanatory note on effective mass mw

he effective mass has to be calculated to ensure optimum operation of the self adjusting shock absorber. This is a virtual mass and is calculated from the kinetic energy/stroke (WG) and the impact velocity. If purely kinetic energy has to be absorbed, then the effective mass corresponds to the actual mass
(mw = m).
Symbols and units employed
WK = kinetic energy/stroke
(excluding work done by drive)

Nm/stroke
WG = kinetic energy/stroke
(WG = WK + A)

Nm/stroke
WH = kinetic energy/hour
(WG or WK x Z)

Nm/stroke
